August Monthly Update!

It’s been a whole month since I last wrote a blog, and it feels like so long! I always feel like I’ve done so much, but accomplished so little. Only two videos were published this month on YouTube:

Both of these videos were published later in the month, after I had “decided” on a video schedule (two days a week). I was struggling to complete content, but I’m hoping that I’ll be able to publish a video on Monday and Friday. Monday is significantly easier for me to do, since it’s right after the weekend, but Friday has proved a little more difficult because I’ve only had the evenings after work to get the video done and I have other tasks I need to get done and quite honestly, I’m just tired.

I also worked on setting up a Patreon page for DIDS this month. It’s not live yet, but if you want to support DIDS other ways (like with some rewards) Patreon will serve for that.

I know that doesn’t seem like a massive update, and I’m sorry for that, however things are being accomplished in the background that are just hard to give updates on because they’re not tangible things.

Future Development

I’ve come up with a complete list of videos and series that I think I could create. I’ve already started on one, and I’m actually very excited about it! I’ve come up with a list of videos that I can constantly repeat, such as video game playthroughs, but also a list of video series that will help educate people on video game development and art. I just hope that I’m knowledgeable enough to have the content in these videos be up to a certain standard. My thought process going forwards is “practice makes perfect”. I don’t consider myself a very good teacher, especially when I’m in front of an audience or it’s live, person to person. Since it’s a video however, it can be scripted and I can get the words out that I often find myself missing out on a paper so I’m not awkwardly stumbling through a sentence.

I’m hoping to get the DIDS prototype done by the end of September. This is a massive goal of mine and I don’t know if I’ll be able to reach it, but I will try my very best. This means that playtesting will take place in October and hopefully people will find out about DIDS and want to be involved.

Last but not least, I’ve researched a series of drawing challenges to do. I think this could make for a really cool set of videos. The most well known one is Inktober, by Jake Parker. The prompt list for 2023 was actually released 22 hours ago as I write this blog post, so I’ll be drafting up some pieces of art and recording the finished pieces when October rolls around. If you’re interested the prompt list is just below.

That’s it for this month! A little bit shorter but always sweet. Enjoy September and the last little bit of warmth from summer. Don’t forget to drink water!
