February 2024 Monthly Update

It does not feel like February is already over and it’s March. Time actually flies right by you. We’re at 13 subscribers on YouTube! It doesn’t feel like very much, but even one sub counts for me right now.

What Happened in February?

We delivered 5 videos this month:

Ori and The Blind Forest | Episode One! The Prologue!

Ori and The Blind Forest | Episode 2! Continuing through Sunken Glades

Sheepy: A Short Adventure - This game is a MUST PLAY!

Sea of Stars - Ep. 1 | Becoming Solstice Warriors!

Sea of Stars - Ep. 2 | Finding Garl!

We also started creating Inner Demons on UE5. This has been… an experience to say the least. Tutorials are not good at explaining blueprints and how they work, they just “do it” and it magically works. I’ve been trying to figure out how it works on my own, but it’s extremely confusing. Inner Demons has been renamed to Carry On - a name that’s a little less dramatic/out there but still relevant to what it’s about. I’ve built out the script for each world, and how each world will be played. It should only be about an hour or two of gameplay if played straightforwards. I don’t want to call it a walking simulator, but at it’s core, that’s what it is. It’s a game that tells a story in a straight-forwards-but-Alice-In-Wonderland kind of way.

March Goals(?)

I have several videos underway for the future. Of course we’re still working on Colour Quest, but I’d like those videos to be in-depth and well done, which is a lot more work than just simply editing a single video and uploading, which is what most of the gameplay videos are. Right now I’m also going through a follow-along series for creating illustrations, which again, is a lot more editing than just the beginning and end of a video. But I think they’ll turn out well!

Gameplay videos will also continue. Sea of Stars is fun, especially since I don’t normally play a lot of turn based games. Ori and The Blind Forest will also continue, which thankfully taught me early on to save WAY more often than what I thought I’d have to. Haiku The Robot has taken a bit of a backseat, it felt like I was at the point where I was roaming around aimlessly. We might pick it back up again though, we shall see.

For videos overall, I’m determined to create the videos when I say I am, which is every Monday and Friday. Sometimes life catches up with me and I’m unable to create a video in time, but I just need to prioritize better.

For Carry On, I’d like to have the game built out, even in a prototype stage. This is a massive goal, and honestly, it’s unlikely this will get done in one month. As mentioned previously, UE5 continues to be a headache to learn (even though I’m determined), but at least world building in squares and rectangles seems easy enough.
