Two Week Update
Sorry for no blog post last week. The last two weeks have been very hectic, busy and exhausting. So here we are - two week update! I hope you’re not too disappointed, but I didn’t get much done.
I started to add in item pickups in Daughter of Bones, and then didn’t get to work on it again. I also started to work on the GDD and TDD and really get some scope for my game. I know I should have done that beforehand, however writing these documents is so boring and so tedious that I really didn’t want to. Doing something that I don’t want to do really puts a stopper in my workflow, it destroys my focusing power and I end up not being able to focus at all. My mind will constantly drift back to whatever was wanting to do. However, these documents really need to be written. I need to have some form of scope to stick to, otherwise I’ll just keep going and going with ideas. I’m sure many of you have experienced this while creating.
I’m also working on Networking! Networking is required for online multiplayer. I don’t know why I didn’t think of networking while learning several weeks ago, but I suddenly needed to for work and said to myself “wow, how could I forget about networking?”. I was linked a video by a coworker that is very informative, it’s a video by samyam, The Ultimate Multiplayer Tutorial for Unity - Netcode for GameObjects. I’m about halfway into it, but I’m having difficulty applying the same concepts to my own game. I may need additional resources from elsewhere. Networking is so hard!
I’ve also been hard at streaming, uploading videos, editing, finding music and sound effects and then posting videos to socials… It’s such a time consuming process. But it feels good to finally have some of this done and know what my next steps are. It will only become a faster and faster process from here.
As short as that was, that’s my two week update. My brain was fried, but since having a bit of a relaxing weekend and taking both a mental and physical break, I feel significantly better and refreshed.
